Role-Play Simulation Game
Operation Homeostasis: The Role-Play Challenge
Project Objectives:
To understand and articulate the functions of a human body system in maintaining homeostasis and its role in reproductive health.
To analyze various scenarios affecting homeostasis and to propose scientifically grounded solutions.
To demonstrate the ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world situations involving homeostasis and reproductive health.
Expectations:
Design a role-play where each student would be assigned a specific body system to represent.
Create scenarios where you must detail how your system will react to maintain homeostasis or address reproductive health issues.
Your solutions should be grounded in scientific principles and show strategic thinking.
You are expected to communicate your ideas clearly, using appropriate scientific terminology.
A reflective piece on your learning process and the interconnectivity of body systems is required.
Project Outline:
Part 1: Research & Understanding
Develop a deep understanding of the six body systems discussed in the unit
Part 2: Scenario Analysis
Create scenarios that upset homeostasis and determine how the body system will respond. Pretend that you are the director of a play. You must instruct the "actors" playing each body system, telling them what to do.
The overall theme of the role-play is "The homeostasis of a pregnant lady"
You must generate a different scenario for each body system (5 in total).
You must include why it is important that this imbalance be brought back into balance for the sake of the pregnancy.
Part 3: Application & Strategy
Ensure that scientific principles are applied when developing strategies for maintaining homeostasis in each scenario.
Timeline:
Day 1: Introduction to Project and Assignment of Body Systems
Day 2-3: Scenario Analysis and Strategy Development
Day 4: Finalizing Communication Strategies
Submission Details:
Due Date: Monday, May 6, 2024
Format: Written document, submitted electronically via Google Classroom
Components: No specific length but the document should include:
an introduction that outlines what homeostasis is and a short description of the six body systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, immune, reproductive).
A scenario for each system (except the reproductive system).
A detailed description of how the body would come back into balance after the disturbance and instructions for each actor.
All work must be your own. Cite any sources you use in a reference section.
